DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTANCY

Department of Accountancy is one of the five departments within the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya. The department offers a range of specialist accounting and finance courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Our portfolio of postgraduate accounting and finance courses provides Master level courses that will further develop your theoretical and applied accounting and finance skills. On graduation, your Master’s degree will provide you with the skills necessary to develop your career to the most senior level roles within an accounting or finance environment in a variety of sectors.

The department is recognized for its research output and its faculty is consistently rated by students as having excellent teachers and tutors. The teaching faculty is drawn from a range of pure research and commercial business backgrounds. Several members of the faculty are, for example, members of professional accounting bodies such as CIMA and ICAS.

Research plays a vital role in underpinning all levels of teaching and the curriculum. Our students are made aware of the research being undertaken through access to published output and invitation to research seminars. Students have the opportunity to have their dissertation supervised by an active researcher.
